Gold-leaf punch

2 cups Applejack, 2 cups Apple Cider (non-alcoholic), 1 cup maple syrup, 6 oz lemon juice, 1 750mL bottle of dry Champagne/Prosecco/Cava, Angostura bitters to taste. Slice apple thinly and float as garnish. [Makes about 12 drinks, good for a crowd of 6 or so. Made this for Thanksgiving and it was very popular. By the end of the night, you start noticing the sweetness a bit, so you might want to tone down on the maple syrup. Picking a dry sparkling wine is important, around $15 or so, but pick smart. André, for example, will ruin it.]
